Thread: Intel Core 2 Quad Issue

Now I had upgraded PC and installed Asus Striker Extreme motherboard along with Intel Core 2 Quad processor and 2 GB RAM. I was playing games with higher settings its working well for 15 to 20 minutes then PC Rebooted similar thing occurred to all games then I lower graphics settings to low and checked it. This time system did not restart and games are working well in lower graphics’ settings but problem happen when I set graphics setting back to higher. So please help me to solve this problem.

It is not processor with 4 execution cores like AMD´s future K8L but pair of Core 2 Duos in similar package by similar Socket. You require thermal compound, such as Arctic Silver or Arctic Cooling MX. Ensure push pins are going through back of motherboard. Utilize roll of duct tape for support and push hard.

Ensure that in game settings are not too demanding. Intel's 45nm chips have problems with core temps not going below certain threshold but they are usually correct above that threshold. To repair this problem download new BIOS firmware. Then restart, it found CPU and detected it properly. Then it not shows CPU over Temperature and you can see temperature fluctuating in Hardware Monitor in BIOS.
