The Asus EAH2600 XT, based on the ATI Radeon 2600 XT family, bagged the Best Value award in the entry-level category purely for its performance at the cheapest price point. This card is
not factory overclocked, it uses a core speed of 800 MHz along with GDDR 4800 MHz video memory.
The card performs well above average when used at a resolution of 1024x768, even with high-end games like Crysis. At resolutions like 1280xl 024, it oozes fps scores which are almost similar to the best performer, the Calibre P860. Hence, looking at the overall game play, this card would certainly suffice for moderate gaming.
A notable feature about the card is good active cooling, which helps in keeping the case temperatures low. Also, the card doesn't require additional power. Value addition also comes with a bundled DVI-to-HDMI dongle which enables connecting the PC to a high definition display. Thus this card is a good option for those planning to build a home theater PC at a modest price.
FOR: Affordable, decent performance at lower resolutions, HDMI output.
AGAINST: None.
