Thread: Back Up Drivers before Formatting Hard Drive

I would like to format the hard drive of my old computer, but I do not have all the driver files on disk, which I will need to reinstall after formatting the hard drive. How can I save these drivers to a disk and what way can I use to find them in "C" drive. I am running Windows XP Home operating system in my computer?

You can check to see that you have a disk for the essential drivers which are been required by your devices. Also, see that the device manufacturer's websites for the latest XP compatible drivers for your devices.

If you are having a location on the hard drive where you've saved the drivers before installing them. You cannot save the drivers separately once they've been installed. They are also not generally a single file; they are also installed in a comparable to an application with the files all over the place. Without disks for your various devices, modem, graphics card, soundcard, etc. internally and whatever external devices you have, printer, scanner, etc. you need to go to the device manufacturer's website and then download the drivers for your different devices. It's also quite simple and straight forward and will give you the most recent XP compatible drivers for your devices. The preferable of using the "driverguide" and other such services as recommended in this thread. I've also tested some of these sites and the drivers to which they point out the often dated and they are often don't pick up the necessary updates when are available or even all your devices.
