Solid State Drives refer to the new-generation drives that are built using Flash memory technology. These offer better power economy and data transfer speeds. and due to the absence of moving parts, are more sturdy and silent. Since they are much more expensive than disk-based stor¬age media, they are still niche products. The current maximum capacity of an SSD is 64 GB, with larger disks coming soon.
