This Barracuda averaged 77.6 MBps in random write and 79.5 MBps in random read. But the big disappointment comes when the drive has to multitask. In our real world simultaneous read - write file copy test, the Barracuda came last, taking all of 984 seconds - compare this to the 825 seconds taken by the top performer, and you will wonder where Seagate went wrong. Power consumption figures read 8 Watt at idle and 11.6 Watt at seek (max. values). The rated number of 500,000 start-stop cycles is lower than the WD RE2-GP, but is in the league of industry standards.
