Many older PC devices utilized Parallel or Serial IDE cables to attach device to a motherboard. New PCs have changed these connections with different technology; making older storage devices unsuited with new PCs. Luckily, IDE cables using AT Attachment (ATA) can be converted to modern USB cables using proper adapter. These adapters can be bought from different hardware retailers.
Instructions
Step 1
Get an ATA/IDE to USB adapter. These can be bought from any hardware seller.
Step 2
Detach both PC and IDE device from power sources. Whenever changing hardware, as it protects devices and yourself from harm caused by electric shock.
Step 3
Attach "male" end of ATA/IDE adapter to IDE device.
Step 4
Attach USB cable to other end of adapter.
Step 5
Attach USB cable to PC.
Step 6
Again attach IDE device and PC to their proper power sources and turn on PC.
