Western Digital MyBook is popular external hard drives, due to its low cost and beautiful design. Many MyBook models are formatted using FAT32 file system by default, permitting them to be utilized on PCs that are not Windows based. On a Windows PC, convert MyBook to more dependable NTFS file system by using Windows Disk Management utility.
Right click on "My Computer". Click "Manage" to run Computer Management utility. Get "Disk Management" and tick it. The middle portion of window will populate with a list of hard drives installed in or attached to PC.
Find "MyBook". On window, you must see in the shade rectangle showing MyBook. In rectangle, there is text displaying capacity of drive, along with "FAT32."
Right click rectangle for MyBook and tick "Delete Volume." You want to verify a message explaining that this is an unhelpful action that cannot be reversed. After FAT32 partition is removed, rectangle will modify to "Unallocated Space."
Right tick rectangle "Unallocated Space." Click on New Partition > Next > Primary Partition > Next.Find number beside "Maximum disk space in MB." Enter that similar number beside "Partition size in MB." Click "Next." Click "Next" when asked to allocate letter to drive.
Click radio button beside "Format this partition with following settings," and select "NTFS" from menu. Click Next > Finish. The change to NTFS will be finish. You can start using drive.
