Making bootable USB flash drive is quite simple thing to do and is suitable if PC ever starts to act up. Booting from USB drive permits you to troubleshoot PC by running system scans or checking for viruses. After format the drive to boot proper PC, you must just mount boot image of your selection to drive.

Instructions

Step 1

Put in USB drive into free USB slot in PC.

Step 2

Open Disk Utility. Disk Utility is placed in "Utilities" folder in "Applications."

Step 3

Show up USB drive in sidebar and select "Partition" tab.

Step 4

Set "Volume Scheme" to "1 Partition." Choose "Options" and pick boot option that matches kind of PC you plan on booting. Choose "Apply" and verify action. Drive is now bootable, although to actually boot PC bootable image should be restored to drive using "Restore" tab.

Step 5

Download Boot CD image of your selection.

Step 6

Highlight USB drive in Disk Utility's sidebar again. Choose "Restore" tab and drag download boot image to "Source" field. Drag USB drive to "Destination" field and choose "Apply." Verify action to mount boot image to drive. USB drive will now boot PC into troubleshooting boot CD.
