With PC security becoming more vital, new methods for protecting current or stored data arise daily. KillDisk cleans hard drives, USB devices and removable media by low level formatting or overwriting free space. This program keeps removed data on any type of media from being recovered using not deleting programs.
Instructions
Step 1
Bootable floppy disk or CD should be made which has programs for system troubleshooting, with boot disk edition of KillDisk earlier than any permanent deletion is done.
Step 2
Put in bootable disk and reboot PC. When DOS prompt emerges type "killdisk."
Step 3
Choose drive you want to erase or wash. Information for chosen drive is available on screen. More information is available by pressing "Ctrl + S," which shows disk sectors or "Enter," which shows file system.
Step 4
Push "F10" for permanently and irretrievably delete all data on chosen drive.
Step 5
Push "F9" to clean all data outside of current file system. Means files on PC stay unchanged but older, frequently removed, files are gone everlastingly.
Step 6
Verify your selection. Both methods need to press button again, then enter full command word before it starts.
Step 7
Stay as program runs the erase or wipe. After it starts, you can stop process by pushing "Esc," but any removed data is vanished.
