Hard drives rapidly fill up on laptop or occasionally drives are not big sufficient to begin with. If you choose you want to change hard drive in laptop, follow steps given below to finish task.

Instructions

Step 1

Check warranty for laptop. If laptop is still under warranty and you change hard drive manually, you may cancel warranty. Check with laptop's company to be sure.

Step 2

Check laptop's manual for correct process to change laptop's hard drive. The instructions that follow are general guidelines.

Step 3

Clean up old hard disk. Delete unwanted files. Back up all files that stay on flash drive or DVD. Run "Disk Defrag" on old hard disk. These steps make move process quicker.

Step 4

Ensure that fresh hard disk is similar size and shape as previous one. Attach new hard disk to previous one that's in laptop with USB cable. Run software intended to move files from one hard disk to other and confirm that files are right.

Step 5

Disconnect laptop. Take out screw and slither cart out that holds hard disk.

Step 6

Change previous hard drive with new one. Put new hard drive in carriage in precisely the way the previous one was located. Slide whole carriage back into laptop. Ensure connectors are safe. Screw cover back in place.

Step 7

Turn on laptop. Ensure OS and all library are functioning properly.
