Thread: Quiet Hard disk

When I start to CMOS, drive's values are different from what they must be. E.g. CMOS shows its 4 GB while it's 20 GB. I tried to put drive on accessible channels primary1, secondary0 and secondary1 and tried both Cable Select and Mas/Sla configurations. But nothing happens result is same. What does it mean? Any help will be appreciated.

It could be that you are by funds of old motherboard that does not classify hard drives bigger than 4GB. Verify motherboard seller's website for updated BIOS which may repair this.

Original Hard disk sends with structure and it work well. Now I included other drive and new CD device. All not together with my one disk works well. System looks like this:

P0 -- new 160GB disk (OS, works well)

P1 -- new CD (works fine)

S0 -- old 40GB disk (works well)

S1 -- old 40GB disk (doesn't work)

Execute few free diagnostics on drive from proper drive company.

After diagnostics fault code looks like given below:

Test Result: FAIL
Cable Test: Read diagnostics sector error!
Overall result: Unusual status could not finish test

It looks like drive requires to be changed. So challenge swapping in other cable, or test out other drive on that IDE port to verify.
