Despite whether hard disk on PC is simple to change, as it is in Compaq c500 Notebook, or hard, as it is in many desktop PCs, doing so with bad hard drive with all vital files locked on it is difficult. You lose all, but you can change hardware in few minutes. The trade may be irregular firstly, but after PC is back up, you will forget about things you lost.

Instructions

• Back up all vital files and drivers, if it's probable. Damage hard disk not work at all, in which case you won't be able to do anything with OS.

• Shut down PC, detach power cord, and let hardware to cool. You need to take out battery and any other devices that attached to PC, to make sure that there is no power going into system.

• Find hard disk section in PC. Take out screws and cover of it.

• Move hard disk to right side of division to detach it from hard disk port and remove from PC.

• Install latest hard disk into section and lock it in port. Change cover and screws.

• Turn PC over and change battery and power cord.

• Start PC and install new OS. After OS is installed, you can change files from old hard disk and attach other external device that is taken out.
