As PC applications are bigger, and then older PCs are having lack of space to store them. Occasionally it's better to send data to new PC but frequently, particularly for office PCs, it’s better to put new hard drive in and carry on to use original system.
Instructions
• Decide if you have adequate connections and space for latest hard disk. A hard disk needs drive bay, power connection and either open IDE or SATA connection, based on form of drive.
• Set drive's jumpers. Not all hard disks have jumpers. If drive does not have any then skip this step. If it does, then drive won't work without right settings. If you set both drives on IDE cable to "Cable Select," then system works well. If you are having difficulty with Cable Select, you want to set drive at end of IDE cable to "Master" and one in mid to "Slave."
• Attach hard drive into open drive. Attach power cable and IDE or SATA cable to drive. You can connect power, SATA and many IDE cables in one direction, but sometimes, connect IDE cables in two ways. Then red stripe on side of IDE cable go to power connector.
• Start PC and ensure PC identifies drive.
