Thread: How to enhance VMware Hard Disk Space

I am running VMware server on Windows XP, also one virtual machine running Linux Ubuntu 8. I use VMware for running number of operating systems. I want to expand my HDD size from 20GB to 30GB. What steps will be needed to do this. Thanks in advanced.

a. Firstly, put the location of vmware.exe on your computer typically it will be in C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware Server

b. Once you have placed your vmware.exe file launch command prompt on Windows. [Start -> Run -> type "cmd" in the window after that hit ENTER

c. Now browse into the vmware.exe directory , in this case simply C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware Server
From here type

• vmware-vdiskmanager -x 25GB image.vmdk

• 25GB in this case we want to make the NEW size 30GB , this method will not take out any existing files

• if for some reason it does not work type the whole path of the vmdk file
For example: vmware-vdiskmanager -x 30GB D:\Virtual Machines\Ubuntu\Ubuntu.vmdk
