My Windows Vista was C drive and I installed windows 7 on my other SATA drive, when all done and the boot selection came up, I booted to windows 7, in My pc , it showed Windows 7 as being C drive and all my other partitions consequently, except for my widows Vista partition which no longer had a drive letter. I had to rename the drive letters on all my partitions in Windows 7 to match the drive letters I have in Windows Vista and gave Windows Vista drive letter Gbooted and went in to windows Vista where Vista was C drive and Windows 7 had no letter attributed, so I attributed it G drive.

It looks that you can't open windows Vista from windows7 and the same the other way around. And it doesn't problem what windows one installed the running windows will always be "C" Drive. If you require to move info only copy it to some other drive.
