    Default Hard disk connector damaged.

    Hello people

I hope that someone a bit familiar with hardware and electronics. I have in my PC 2 hard drives, 2 DVD - drives and a Blu-ray drive.

Actually I wanted to reposition only slightly, but suddenly shone only briefly at the start, the LED's on the main board, before it switches off again. I then found out that this happens only if my 1st Hard drive is plugged into power. I have removed the hard drive and then plugged the power connector. Then it happened. The launch was again stopped, 2 seconds later, the PC started yet, the plug began to the hard drive to make smoke. So now plug out.

Results: disk connection. black, just plug a bit of melted and burned out.
Can I save the data on the hard drive yet? And must be a new power supply here, because a cable is broken?

Assume, to "re-insert something," You were so turned off the computer (sorry ask, not without reason - just to be sure.

Is your computer "clean interior" or at best very dusty? The damage her .Smoke? An internal device power connector (ok, these things have a technical name, I know not the grade).

The data can be produced safely back (evil: from your current backup). You could, for example with an external case (case) via USB or try that's already delicate with an identical drive (already done - is more than just sensitive!).

I would replace power supply, because of the uncertainty that this part has taken no damage.

Question about your data: if the HDD is not a USB case can appeal to ... such as "valuable" were they? Professional data recovery costs in the four figures - the "craft" (100% identical, including firmware, etc.) with an identical drive costs, too, and you need proper time ...

the "Molex" plug is over. So I ask myself where the short circuit occurs. Construction of the disk, in NEN other PC and hope the same does not happen again. Then come ran or to your data. With less tinkering the way when you set a USB to IDE / SATA adapter. Thus, all have smoke in the eye and the included AC adapter not so fast.

This is the PC power supply so ne thing. Since no one can say with certainty whether it has taken damage dafon NEN. If in doubt, replace.
    This time my opinion

The power supply I would definitely replace it even before your motherboard or other charred. I am afraid that the hard drive will not start after such a power surge again, try it as mentioned above with a USB-IDE adapter or simply built into an external USB case to not have to scrap another PC. If your HDD should really show no reaction the next step in a precisely identical hard disk would be found and re-build the controller.
