Default XP and New Hard Disk

    Hi,

I had two HD drives, C: and D:. XP Pro 32bit is installed on D: and Server 2008 R2 64bit on C:. My C: drive developed some concrete mistake and I copied it to a new 1Tb drive today. When I go into XP on D with the old disk as C everything is OK m but when I try to go with the new disk as C:, I get an error after I choose the older version of Windows as my boot option.

Partitions do not have letters assigned to them. So when you say the a partition is labeled as C:, you need to state from which OS you see that label since the other OS may have assigned a different letter to it.

There is no reason why both can't be on C: and on the same drive. Partitions cannot be known by letters. You can have as many C: drives on the same drive as you want.
