Thread: Transfer Hard drive

I am requiring copying my windows install from my 80 GB hard drive. Onto my sata drive which is a lot faster. i expecting at copying it exactly the same. Then formatting the 80 GB drive and only running the sata. i do not wish to format the sata. I am going to make further partition on it for windows 7 can you help me in this problem.

I suppose to a cloning tool or drive image would work well. As you can’t copy the drive from in Windows. I found a couple of free tools that would to make the job simple.

I can suggest you from the start your only real and best option if you are changing the ide drive are to simply perform a clean install of windows 7 on the fresh drive. That will insure the best results since you are going from one drive type to further. I question you would see any favorable results trying to clone the installation.

The Windows Easy Transfer wizard where you transfers the files and settings in the similar way as the old files and transfer wizard. When later running that on the new installation seen on the sata you just import the backups you made with that.
