Default Problem with laptop hard drive

    Hello!

I did the day before a new SATA - hard drive for my 2 year old Fujitsu Siemens laptop bought and installed. Then I got this with Ultimate Boot CD formatted with FAT32, so I have a primary FAT32 partition on the hard disk.

Now I wanted to install Windows XP, the installation menu XP still reports that no drive was found.

My question: What am I doing wrong?

I would imagine that come with your XP CD no SATA drivers on it, so it only scans for IDE hard drives and fidnet course not. Somewhere in the BIOS but you'd have to adjust that and SATA drives show as IDE. Because somewhere would have a menu item "AHCI" or something that you'd have to Compatible "(or similar quote at least not" Native ") position.

Thanks for your help! I've just found out that is not even appear in the BIOS the hard drive, which makes me think.

I'll be a BIOS - try update on what else I can think now is not a degree.
Nevertheless, thanks again for the tips.

If it is not displayed in the BIOS is bad.

Hopefully help the BIOS update was not available when the disk in the A, what would be strange, since it is new so, or something is not compatible because all.

You have the new album already on the UBCD but formatted with FAT32 ... How can then be formatted because although she shows up in bios?

    How so ever FAT32?
    And how to format manually?

If you install new windows, you can repartition the drive but excellent and the partition where the OS is on it then format (usually with NTFS on win2k ...)
