The Emprex HDD TV Recorder does bit to please itself from the outset screaming ‘cheap' from the time you open the box. Its fragile remote control appears about as easy to use as one made from hoary nails. Then there's the software givend on a mini-CD. The flimsy instruction sheet. The insignificant black box of the product itself, fixed with the major clumsy set of buttons we can remember seeing.

Its proper to say that if you're one for initial impressions then Emprex will not be acquiring your business. But then the market isn't aiming its products with aesthetics in headd. Without going for price. Thus, the highest drawing card of the BPR-101 is that you can pick it up for below a tenner.
