Thread: How to Disable Write Access from external hard drive

Hello friends, II are having native 80GB external hard disk which is at present giving a write protection error when I attempt to move data from the drive. I had not set these options. I had just copied some data form a windows vista computer and now I am trying to paste the data in windows xp. But the hard disk is giving error of windows disc is write protected. Now I cannot switch file or I can format the hard disk to remove this error. Thanks!

Hi, the adjusting can be invalided by right clicking on the external hard disk. First attach the hard disk and then open my computer. Right click on the hard disk and get rid of the tick from the verification box next to read only. Exit the properties box. Now try to move the data files.

The lock can be removed and closed by one command in cmd. Insert your drive and give the chdir command to locate your hard drive. Then just type sys: on to change the write protection and sys: off to invalid the write protection service. Also check your bios settings. Few bios have write protection configuration. If it is established then you have to invalid it from there.
