A mac can read NTFS exclude not write. NTFS volumes are read aborigine amongst Mac OS X assuring as at any rate Panther (10.3). For writing, you accept to set up an extra driver similar NTFS-3G. Paragon ntfs can as well write, in my eyes a rather conflicting result. I am of the estimation: what an OS cannot by home-constructed, must not be forced. Goes at least if not to file organizations as well as AllocationTables.

Yes, any hard repel is simpatico with Mac OS or Windows. The just restrictions relate to approximately Western Digital repels. And yet this restriction applies just constituting able to utilize approximately of these disks as a boot disk such old Mac, which is weaponed with a Power PC CPU. For Intel-based Mac, there is no restriction on the fact of utilizing them as boot disks. For utilize as a memory repel, still on older Macs, all existing repels are simpatico Mac or Windows.

It may be that you accept the hard repel formatted in NTFS format called. This file system is not simpatico with Mac PC's. The softest way would be if you call in your app folder below Utilities Disk Utility. There you can then choose your external hard repel and reformat. But you should 1st back up your files you accept on your hard disk. Would advocate to the FAT file system. That is too simpatico with Windows. Still, you must note that you can just move at a max of 4GB FAT large files.
