We never think we had consider the day to be honest, but the mammoth W90 notebook from Asus arrives with 2 Mobility Radeon HD 4870s and an Intel Core II Duo T9600 45nm central processing unit, buried in a 18.4" 5kg behemoth.

"Notebook" is a loose condition where the W90 is pertained and it is more of a compress desktop than a notebook.

With 2 320GB hard drives it is got a tonne of memory space and VIGB of memory exceeds most desktop systems. The Altec Lasing tins speakers and a plethora of additional slots for expansion adding various USB 2.0, eSATA, IEEE1394a Firewire (4-pin), VGA, HDMI, Ethernet and modem (why?), and 3.5mm earpiece and mike jacks.

An SD card and show card port sit above the DVD-RW drive, which will be swapped out for a Blu-ray drive on the production example. That is exactly fitted to the 1080p able 1,920 x 1,080 16:9 display.

Asus too squeezes in Bluetooth and 802.11n wireless connectivity in, as good as a "subwoofer" in the base although we had scarcely look at this a "feature" having sampled few song - only similar the 93Wh, 8800mAh battery which looks, similar entire desktop substitute laptops, as a token to create it a "notebook" instead than a desktop Computer.

The keys with the top and down the left side are of the funky touch sensitive kind although the well dot pitch TFT display is too glossy also to develope contrast. The volume and backlight control are touch sliders that function so good at the flick of a finger so no more fishing for function button shortcuts.

One of these keys was an auto-overclock one - like to the MSI Turbo key on its G-serial gaming notebooks, it overclocks the central processing unit frontside bus by a notch giving it a some additional horses. The process does not overclock the graphics boards and we got in our engineering examples at least it was even rather buggy crashing the device later only various seconds.

The heaviness is a fairly uniform 5cm - the screen with its brushed aluminum shell covering the back is 1.5cm of that also. This brushed aluminum carries around the keyboard furnishing a great appearance - and as a bonus it warms up nicely from the Computer underneath.
