Seagate now declared a IVTB variant of its GoFlex Desk outer hard drive, touting it as the most prominent capacity individual-volume outer storage machine on the market. The company is not telling how many platters are inner the fresh drive but regarding it has already declared One Tera Byte each platter drives, we are taking they went with 4 platters with an areal density of 625GBs each square inch.
They are not mentioning spindle velocity or cache size, either. What they do state is that the GoFlex Desk will ship with support for Universal Serial Bus 2.0 and Universal Serial Bus 3.0, when a Mac edition shipping after this month will extends USB 2.0 and FireWire compatibility. The company’s GoFlex Desk for Mac hard drive extends same characteristics but arrives pre-formatted in the HFS+ format.
Similar to other members of the GoFlex Family, the GoFlex Desk permits users to alter adapters to function with a rate of interfaces (USB, FireWire, eSATA), and evidently a Thunderbolt inform could be on the path.
Seagate is too demonstrating a fresh plan that will turn standard across the full GoFlex line through the end of the month. Although the company states that the GoFlex Desk's fresh plan should leave "a smaller footprint," this outer drive even weights 2.93 pounds and adds a power supply cord, so normally it does not rather qualify as movable.
