I am running Windows XP Home Edition an HP dv8000 laptop. Hard drive is very, very slow and always busy. It affects everything. Sound is choppy and the video is terrible and the same. Device Manager shows that it is in PIO mode. I am unable to switch to DMA mode. One solution is to disable the driver and re-enable it and you should be able to pass then. But does anyone know: if I disable the main C: drive driver, would not that pretty much make anything off of me from that point on? Will be able to re-enable it? "
