The following instructions are for Mac OSX 10.4.
1. Go to server Admin. You can obtain to this by drive or Applications or server.
2. User your username and password to connect your server to its IP address.
3. After connection has been created, you get a list of services for system. Select VPN and you will see that VPN settings will display on right hand side of screen.
4. Go to the tab “L2TP” and tick on it.
5. Look for “MSCHAPv2” and indicate a shared secret for VPN. As this will be a main part of connection procedure. Now try to use a non-dictionary word with numbers and as many letters as possible.
6. Locate “PPTP” tag and tick on it. Then give address pool for users who attach via PPTP. Just in case you have a Windows XP user connecting to network.
7. Get the “client information” tab and tick on it. Give your DNS servers, which will vary based on IP address.
8. User accounts can be set up by part of software called workgroup manage. You can get it in similar place you found server admin software. Be sure that next time you can generate good password.
Now you have one Mac server set up. You seen that some information, such as what addresses to give, was left out. This was not finished to irritate you, but because they will be situation-specific and any examples given would only provide to confuse somebody who has not set up a VPN previously. Please get this information before you start setup. This will make your procedure much simple.
