The Remote Session Was Disconnected Because There Are No Terminal Server Client Access Licenses Available For This Computer Message - PC Troubleshooting Help Tips

If you utilize a Windows 2000, XP or Vista client to attach to a Windows 2000 or 2003 Server using remote desktop and obtain an error that shows "The remote session was disconnected because there are no Terminal Server client access licenses available for this computer" it caused by a damage or expired Terminal Services license.

If you do not want to use Terminal Services and only want to have one or two Remote Desktop connections to server at a time then you can eliminate Terminal Services and Terminal Services Licensing from server. To enable Remote Desktop for Administration later so you can attach to server. Remote Desktop for Administration permits you to have two simultaneous Remote Desktop sessions to server without having to buy any licenses.

To delete Terminal Services go to Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs and tick on Add/Remove Windows Components. Then uncheck both Terminal Server and Terminal Server Licensing and tick on Next and complete wizard. You must enable Remote Desktop before you restart if you do not have access to server’s console.

For enabling Remote Desktop just right tick on My Computer and select Properties. Then go to Remote tab and test box that states Enable Remote Desktop on this PC. Administrators will have access by default. You can add other users by adding them to Remote Desktop users group.
