Blu Ray is the next age group DVD design that was urbanized to enable recording, rewrite and playback of high meaning video (HD), as well as store large amounts of data. The format has 5 times the storage ability of customary DVDs and can hold up to 25GB on a single-layer disc and 50GB on a dual-layer disc.
Blue Ray use a blue-violet laser instead of the fixed red laser and is backwards friendly with DVDs and CDs. You will need to have a Blu Ray drive in order to take benefit of the new media. These plans will be costly during the initial release until more manufacture start making the drives and the new format become more widely used. It is attention that Blu Ray will finally replace DVDs.
One of the main advantages of Blu Ray is facility to offer movie in High Definition (HD). High Definition can offer up to 5 times the definition of usual DVDs thanks to its extra storage capabilities.
Blu Ray is opposing with HD-DVD, which uses a related blue-violet laser and high storage capacity. Blu Ray is able to fit extra data on the same size disc since the laser spot can be alert with greater precision.
There are plans to offer Blu Ray drives for PC as well and it will finally replace the DVD drives currently in use.
