Laptop batteries generally provide a fixed number of charging cycles and are constantly losing a part of their charge. As a lithium-ion battery placed unused within a PC, running off the AC adapter, the PC heats up. The hotter it gets the quickly the battery discharges. If the battery remains within the laptop while running off AC power continuously, it is in a continuous position of charging and discharging, unwontedly consuming power. It might be possible to service the battery and get extra charging power.
Instructions:
• Remove the AC adapter from the PC. Start the Dell laptop on battery power alone. Allow the battery to drain entirely till the PC turns off automatically.
• Keep the Dell laptop switched off for some time. Don’t connect the laptop to AC power while in the process.
• Switch on the Dell laptop after some time. Don’t attach the laptop to AC power still. Let the PC to reboot, which will hardly take few minutes, at that point the battery will be completely discharged.
• Connect the Dell laptop back to the AC power, with the battery inside the PC. Charge the battery till the battery is fully charged. Charge the battery further more for sometime even after the indicator is showing fully charged.
• Repeat the whole process 3 more times while the Dell laptop battery will be totally serviced.
• Download a laptop battery examining software application to keep record of the battery's charging and discharging cycles and during the entire performance. Double-click on the application icon after the completion of download and start installing. Follow the instructions to get through the installation process.
