 |
|
 |
|
There are times when autorun function on a CD or DVD does not work. What are the methods to solve and repair? How to repair CD or DVD autorun in a computer?
Instructions
1. Step 1
If a CD put into for software installation and autorun does not work, then go to My Computer and see CD/DVD drive letter. Double click on drive letter to start the autorun.
2. Step 2
If double clicking on drive letter does not function properly, make a mouse right click on CD drive letter. You will notice a menu with name Autoplay and other choices below. If autoplay does not work, choose Explore in same menu.
3. Step 3
After choosing Explore, you look to the contents in CD or DVD of files and occasionally folders with more files. Look for files that show to install software. Filenames contain: Install, Setup, Run, Launch, or Bat. Occasionally install or setup file will be in a folder or even a subfolder. Double click on setup file to start software install.
4. Step 4
If double clicking on setup file does not work, see the CD or DVD. If disk is unclean, clean it. If the mud is greasy, make use of soap and water but ensure to dry it well with cloth earlier than inserting disk in drive.
5. Step 5
If CD or DVD is scratched, you must attempt disk scratch removers or fix kits that can be bought in many popular stores like Walmart, Target, or Best Buy. If repair kit does not work, you must obtain an alternate for the disk.
6. Step 6
If the disk is not dirty or scratched and works on other PC, CD/DVD drive may be inoperable. Attempt restarting PC first earlier than trying to read from CD/DVD drive sometimes known as optical drive. Check to see if autorun or running setup works.
7. Step 7
If restarting PC does not work, change the optical drive.
