Instructions

1. Step 1

First the battery backup is not a backup generator. It is a temporary protection against a power outage and can be very helpful.

2. Step 2

To utilize a battery backup, plug the unit into an outlet and plug electrical devices into the unit. The function of the unit is to give a short-term continuous stream of power through an outage. The length of time it can give power based on size of unit and amount of electricity electronics are drawing. For most customer grade battery backups, approximate a 5 to 15 minute time frame.

3. Step 3

Battery backups are mostly utilized for PCs as a sudden loss of power can mean a loss of data. It gives a small time frame to end up and save any document or project that working on earlier than PC shuts off.

4. Step 4

The major advantage of using a battery backup is that it gives a continuous stream of power so that devices wait operational, rather than for example a backup generator which takes some time to kick in after a power outage. The negative to using a battery backup is that it only gives a small window of time to make sure that you are warned that device will be running out of power soon.
