HP Pavilion dv9000 is part of a sequence of notebooks created by HP that utilize Core Duo processors and Nvidia graphics cards and have an HD DVD drive installed as standard tools. The dv9000 is with its problems, though; HP rejected to confess the problems existed until 2007. That was when HP lastly took action to change defective parts.
Manufacturer's Defects
1. A manufacturer's defect in hardware causes a host of problems that worry different features of dv9000 series, among other notebook series according to HP website. Due to such problems, HP is giving an extended warranty of a further 24 months on top of original 12 month warranty, which comes with buy of the notebook PC, or 24 month warranty, which is an extra buy over and above 12-month option. This extensive warranty only applies to series affected by defect and only if notebooks are showing certain symptoms. Some of the symptoms that cause dv9000 series are problems with display, problems with wireless network card, problems with overheating and power supply problems. If these symptoms are noted, the customer is asked to return the notebook so the faulty parts may be changed.
Overheating and Power
2. The issues with overheating are caused by a defective switch in fan on the processor. The problems with power supply also worry the battery directly. The battery light will not on, even if notebook is connected into the wall with AC adapter attached to it and it is working appropriately. In some cases, notebook will not start at all, even if it is plugged in and battery is connected.
Also, if processor overheats, PC will not start when power button is pressed. This overheating is frequently attributed to LCD display not working, but when an external monitor is attached, the monitor itself works well as monitor is powered individually, not by notebook PC's processor. In either case, customer is asked to return notebook so the defective parts may be changed.
Display Problems
3. Problems with the display are many and contain different symptoms including the display not having power in any way and the display not working even though an external monitor works well. Some of the known causes directly related to overheating problems, as when processor gets too hot, the display will blink out. If any of these problems occur, HP asks that customer return the notebook to change faulty parts.
Network Problems
4. The company recollected the network cards that permit HP Pavilion dv9000 to connect to Internet. The recall states that a defect in network card's connection to motherboard causes device manager not to identify card's installation. Or HP dv9000 thinks it has no network card installed and so cannot attach to the Internet. HP requests that customers return notebooks to have motherboard changed.
