PC hard drives are made up of several thousand sectors, every containing several thousand bits which may be written to or read. These sectors of hard drive can occasionally become physically broken through normal wear and tear or be written with defective data through logical drive errors. When this happens it is essential to check these errors and delete them to make sure appropriate drive operation. This is a easy task which any PC user can finish.
Instructions
1. Step 1
Click on the "Start" button.
2. Step 2
Go to "Computer" or "My Computer" from start menu.
3. Step 3
Right click on the drive that you want to repair and choose "Properties" from
resulting context menu.
4. Step 4
Click on "Tools" tab from resulting hard-drive dialog box.
5. Step 5
Click on "Check now..." which is below "Error Checking".
6. Step 6
Choose both "Automatically fix errors" and "Scan for and try recovery of bad sectors."
7. Step 7
Click on "Start" button to begin error search and recovery procedure. This will repair any recoverable drive errors.
