Whether you are purchasing a used laptop, are checking for warranty reasons or just want to know date of your setup, there are many ways that check the manufacture date of PC or Mac. As method varies from brand to brand, there are some steps that help to find birth date of laptop.
Finding PC MFD
1. Step 1
Find body of laptop for a sticker posted by company that has information about system and the build of PC. This information can usually placed on bottom of laptop. As it does not always say MFD (manufacture date) of PC, there is a possibility it might.
2. Step 2
Check BIOS MFD of PC to get an idea of when it was created. This is done by
0turning on PC and entering the BIOS menu instantly. In BIOS menu will differ from PC to PC, but can always be done upon startup.
This generally has hitting a key like F2 or F10 on initial screen that shows when you start PC. Then on next screen note the key to press, and then restart PC again so you can enter menu. The date will show on the first screen.
3. Step 3
Contact the company of PC or e-mail and give the serial number of laptop. As the company won't be able to give you a correct MFD, it gives you with a rough approximation of when your PC was created based on how long that model was in production.
Finding Mac MFD
Step 1
Click the Apple icon on desktop and choose "About This Mac."
Step 2
Double tick the version number that shows for Mac upon opening the menu to appear Mac serial number.
Step 3
Decide the year your Mac was created by looking at initial digit in serial number, which signifies last digit of year the PC was made. The next two digits signify the week of the year in which PC was built.
