PCs have a quite limited lifetime in this age of technology. With most PCs being out-of-date by time they are a year old, it’s not unusual to begin a set of out-of-date machines that have been substituted by new, upgraded models. If you do not want old devices, think donating them back into community for others to utilize and learn from.
Instructions
Donating Computer Components
1. Step 1
Recognize what parts you want to donate. Although whole PC is out-of-date, it still has some parts that never go out of style, like hard drives. Take out any parts you want to maintain and reuse later on.
2. Step 2
Examine your choices. Examining different sites will show you where you can donate and/or recycle old PC parts locally. Oftentimes, big Goodwill centers will take old PC towers and monitors, which they afterward utilize to educate people in community basic computer skills.
3. Step 3
Pack up your parts and drop them off at donation center that you want. Call in advance to ensure the center is still taking PCs; some centers have more then they have requirement for and might suggest other donation plan.
4. Step 4
Think recycling. Many states have laws about disposal of old PC tools. If you can't get a donation center locally, contact area recycling program and ask about how to dispose of old parts.
