How to Disable Touchpad on IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad Laptop
The touchpad on a notebook come in your way when typing on keyboard. Sometimes it will by mistake come in contact with your palms, and thumbs tapping the buttons for touchpad, making the variable pointer movements and unnecessary characters show on screen.
These instructions are given to show you how to disable touchpad on all IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad without changing BIOS setting.
Instructions
1. Step 1
Push F8 on Windows operating systems to toggle among 'enabling' and 'disabling' touchpad.
2. Step 2
Make the touchpad not sensitive when tapped:
Click Start then go to Control Panel, Printers and Other Hardware, Mouse, Touch Pad. Click "OK" when completed.
3. Step 3
To have extra control over ThinkPad touchpad:
Click on Start then Control Panel, Printers and Other Hardware, Mouse. Choose "Device Select" tab. Pick "Disable device" under Touch Pad.
Select checkbox which shows "Disable Touch Pad when USB pointing device is present".
