1. Step 1
Create a backup copy of anything you do not want to lose. Small files like emails and word documents can be saved to a DVD or flash drive. For bigger backups, you want an extra hard drive to utilize as a backup. Make a list to remember what you want.
2. Step 2
Format the drive. If it's a secondary drive, format it as Windows is running. In My Computer, click drive that want to uninstall. Right-click and select Format. Go to My Computer and right tick on it. Pick Properties and then the Hardware tab.
3. Step 3
Click on Device Manager then click plus sign to enlarge hard drives. Find drive you want to uninstall, right-click, and pick Uninstall. A confirmation box appears asking if you want to uninstall. Click "OK." If asked to reboot PC, choose "No" and in its place shut down.
4. Step 4
Detach PC from wall and push power button once. You notice a flash of light; this is electricity being discharged. Place on wrist strap and safe it to metal frame. Take out screws from back of PC and remove the cover.
