PCs can be a headache, but with a restore CD useful, you can obtain eMachine back to shape it was in on day one. Be sure to back up all files before even trying this, as process is as thorough as it is simple, and all files and folders will be removed.
Instructions
1. Step 1
If PC is off, turn it on long enough to put in necessary disc, and then back off again. If it is on, insert disc and turn it off.
2. Step 2
Now disc is in, turn on machine and push "F12" key. Perform this after "boot screen" which is initial screen of text you see after machine on.
3. Step 3
Choose CD as a "bootable device." Choose drive that has letters "CD" or "DVD," based on if you have a CD or DVD drive.
4. Step 4
A screen shows with much white text, which you can read at free time, or just push "F8" to go next step.
5. Step 5
Notice a box having letter on left side. Find "C:" drive and push "Enter" to get install process begun on main hard drive.
6. Step 6
Then there is a selection between "NTFS" or "NTFS (Quick)." Quick will take a lot less time, but may not remove a potentially annoying infection.
7. Step 7
The automated procedure must start, and when it's finished, you will be presented with similar choices you were the day PC was initially turned on. Select username, a password, time zone, registration or anything else necessary to continue.
8. Step 8
For last clean-up step, right tick "My Computer," select "Properties," then "Device Manager" to get drivers. If any have a yellow exclamation point or a red "x," then you want to search restore disc or Internet for proper solutions.
