Instructions
1. Step 1
Open laptop's cover and write model number. Turn laptop over and find company's sticker. Write the series number of laptop.
2. Step 2
Check laptop's power supply for company's sticker. Write model number of the power supply. You want a magnifying glass to read numbers on smaller stickers.
3. Step 3
Write wattage and output voltage of adapter to make sure you buy right alternate part.

Go to website, tick on "Accessories" and "Parts". Find company's site for an alternate parts and accessories. Type model number in search box and press "Enter." Select laptop's model number in list of search results and click the link.
5. Step 5
Find and click adapter’s type on Parts and Accessories page. Scroll through list to observe if an alternate adapter is accessible for model. Check compatibility list below adapter's description. Finish purchase if you are happy with cost.
6. Step 6
Go to for your laptop on HP's website tick on "Computers and Networking". Click on "Computer Accessories", then "Adapters and Chargers" and then tick "Standard AC." Click on "HP" below Compatible Brand.
7. Step 7
In Find box type model number of original adapter. Check the box "Include Title and Description" and tick "Search." If you do not get results, try searching for laptop's model number instead.
8. Step 8
Choose an alternate adapter. Check listing for model number, watt, and amp and output voltage. Make sure they are a match for original. Buy adapter if you are happy with cost and seller's rating.
9. Step 9
Compare the output plugs and the numbers on company's stickers when you get alternate to be sure they are similar.
