Laptops are generally simple to dismantle if you must change hardware or internal parts. Also, varying keypad on a laptop is a rapid and simple process, whether you have a Dell, a Mac, Sony, Toshiba or any other laptop. The process takes about 15 to 20 minutes, and alternate keypads are not costly. A lot of people must be able to change a keypad with ease.
Instructions
1. Step 1
Power down PC and take out all exterior parts that are connected to it. Exterior parts contain, but are not restricted to, USB drives, exterior hard drives, cables, headphones, microphones and the battery.
2. Step 2
Touch an unpainted metal surface or wear a wrist grounding strap to avoid static electricity from being introduced into PC interior parts. You are working near to motherboard, so you are certainly want to be careful with static.
3. Step 3
Open laptop and attach a small flat-head screwdriver or spudger into groove in keypad bezel and softly raise it up to remove it. For few laptops you must take out screws from bottom, near screen hinges; you can then take bezel off from top.
4. Step 4
Take out two screws that clutch keypad to laptop. When you take out them, top of keypad will open.
5. Step 5
Flick keypad down over palm rest and detach flat cable that connects keypad to motherboard. Be cautious with cable, as if you break it, you could harm motherboard, which will render PC hopeless.
6. Step 6
Attach flat cable of alternate keypad to motherboard and align screw holes on keypad with laptop screw holes.
7. Step 7
Put in screws and change bezel. Connect exterior parts back to laptop and begin it. You must know if keypad works or not after you try to type log-in password.
