PC Company Dell generates a variety of flat panel monitors. These monitors included with a desktop system or ship as separate displays. Flat panel monitor sizes run from 14 inches to 30 inches. Few flat panel monitors contain embedded hardware like webcams and memory card readers, which can be difficult. Dell flat panel monitors also go beyond number of preferred pixel defects or display a unclear image on-screen.
Image Retention Problem
1. Dell flat panel monitors display a "ghost image" after being left on and at full power over an extensive period of time. Then, user can see image, mainly when screen's background is light gray. Image retention is not a problem on monitors with enabled screensavers or power-saving modes.
Distorted Image Problems
2. Dell flat panel monitors that are not attached appropriately to PC can show strange behavior like discoloration, black bands at top or bottom or screen or twisted geometry. These problems caused by trying to attach monitor to extra one video card input, by having extra one video card installed on PC and not disabling one of them, or by attaching monitor to incorrect video card port.
Memory Card Reader Problems
3. Few Dell flat panel monitors contain embedded memory card slots to ease quick and simple display of digital photographs. As injured cards can be unreadable, problem can also be caused by card reader itself. Connections that have loosened in monitor can cause card reader to not work appropriately. Then card reader can only get JPGs that are less than 11MB and smaller than 4096-by-4096 pixels. Finally, memory cards should not exceed Dell card reader's capabilities. E.g. Flash Cards that have over a 1GB capacity will cause problems when user inserts card into reader.
Pixel Defects
4. Dell flat panel monitors display pixel defects. Sub-pixel defects exist in one or more of red, blue or yellow sub-pixels that comprise a pixel. Defects manifest themselves as either black or white unchanging dots on monitor. As few sub-pixel defects expected as part of developed process, an extreme number of defects in a monitor can obstruct appropriate image viewing. Monitors that display about over nine dark defects or over six bright defects are difficult, and returned to Dell.
Resolution Problems
5. Users who set Dell flat panel monitors to lower than suggested display resolutions may face problems with blocky images. Users who go beyond suggested screen resolutions have problems with monitor showing anything but a blank screen.
