A wireless signal is handy as it decreases many untidy wires and cables attaching things. A bad wireless signal, though, can really mess up browsing Pages won't load, connections get dropped and browsing slows down. Bad reception can cause all things, but if you are getting wireless connection through a PCI adapter, you can resort to some fixes to solve reception problems.

Instructions

1. Step 1

Appear Windows Device Manager on PC. Select "Network Adapters" and double click adapter. Go to "Advanced" tab. You must see choice to modify signal strength. Raise it to maximum. If there is "Power Save" option, turn it off.

2. Step 2

Move the wireless modem. Try to maintain modem a clear distance from wireless PCI adapter. If probable, place wireless modem in middle of room for an even signal. It's better to maintain modem away from PC and other electrical machines as electromagnetic radiation they generate will interfere with signal.

3. Step 3

Include a second wireless router if it's not possible to move modem. If you decide to include another router, try to obtain same brand for maximum compatibility, though various brands must also work together.

4. Step 4

Utilize a repeater to raise reception. This is like another router but it does not need every cabling; connect it into socket and it resends signal, developing reception. This is a better way of doubling variety of wireless router. With increased range, signal can reach wireless PCI adapter successfully.

5. Step 5

Utilize a Wi-Fi antenna. Wi-Fi antennas assist reception by focusing wireless signal in particular direction, before widening it about a common area. This is better method for rising signal strength through walls or floors. Though this is a best way to raise reception, not all adapters work with an antenna. Check documentation for adapter to see if it has this functionality.
