Sound that has unexpectedly gone lost on a PC can be annoying. Usually, sound vanishes either due to ruined sound drivers or as other application has injured or removed drivers from PC. When sounds drivers vanish from PC, sound devices are unable to talk with the motherboard. With little procedure, reinstall sound drivers and restore lost sound back to PC.

Instructions

1. Step 1

Confirm the lost sound drivers before reinstalling them. To do so, click Windows "Start" button and click "Control Panel."

2. Step 2

Double-click "System" icon and click "Hardware" tab." Click "Device Manager" to run "Device Manager" console.

3. Step 3

Scroll down console to "Sound, Video and Game Controllers." Click "+" to enlarge audio choices. If you see a driver with a question or exclamation mark, it means sound drivers are lost. The drivers can be downloaded and installed from PC maker's website.

4. Step 4

Shut Device Manager Window and find PC model and serial number. Based on PC, numbers are placed on back or front. Write numbers after you find them.

5. Step 5

Go to PC maker's website and find "Support" sector. Find "Downloads" or "Software and Drivers Downloads" sector. Enter PC model and serial number to find downloads for PC.

6. Step 6

Find lost sound drivers from downloads sector and click "Download." Click "Run" to install them. Reboot PC when installation is finished.

7. Step 7

Go back to Device Manager and confirm that question or exclamation marks have been deleted. Go back to Control Panel once more and click "Sound and Audio Devices." Click "Volume" tab if you are not mechanically aimed at there. Drag volume slider backward and forward below "Device Volume."

8. Step 8

Put a check on "Place volume icon on taskbar" checkbox and tick "OK."
