The BIOS is motherboard firmware that starts all PC hardware parts. BIOS allow modification of different system and hardware settings. Default factory BIOS settings assurance that system will be steady and bootable. Wrong or extreme modifications of BIOS parameters to get, e.g. hardware overclocking undermine PC or even avoid system from booting. CMOS is an incorporated motherboard chip that stores existing BIOS settings and is powered up from battery. If PC will not boot because of previous modifications of BIOS setting, clearing CMOS is a way to reset BIOS.
Instructions
Removing the CMOS Battery
1. Step 1
Turn off PC.
2. Step 2
Open PC case. This is usually got by intriguing out wall panel. Then put PC on its region.
3. Step 3
Find CMOS battery that is located in socket about in middle of motherboard. This battery is round and plane, and approximately 1/2 inch in diameter.
4. Step 4
Pick up CMOS battery out of its socket and set it to the side on a part of paper. Wait 5 to 20 minutes.

Locate "CMOS clear" jumper on motherboard. Such a jumper is generally placed near CMOS battery socket, which is about in middle of motherboard. This jumper is a tiny 2-pin shunt installed over 3-pin connector. In default position, jumper is generally located over first and second pins of connector.
10. Step 4
Take out jumper from 3-pin connectors using fingers or a tiny forceps.
11. Step 5
Set jumper above second and third pins. This is CMOS clearing place. Stay 10 to 20 seconds.
12. Step 6
