Every feature of using a PC from how you sit to how you care for your PC has safety procedures that must be followed. Few can help you and your health, and others are intended to help you keep your PC in good working order for long term.
Ergomonics
1. As said by University of Western Australia, ergonomics is process of developing work habits that will not harm your joints, eyes or anything else involved in using PC. To decrease glare on PC screen and stress on eyes, keep light source for PC region at a 45-degree angle from eyes.
Your elbows must be even with trunk of body and forearms must be at similar level as keyboard when you are typing. PC screen must be just below eye level so that you can easily look over monitor every 15 minutes or so to decrease wear on eyes. Get up and stretch at least after every hour as working on PC.
Internet Usage
2. Never surf Internet without anti-virus software running in background, and keep anti-virus software updated at all times. Do not tick on attachments to emails from people you do not know, and do not tick on links in emails that ask you to verify log-in information. Only do online transactions with safe websites. Decide which websites are safe since safe websites begin with https as opposed to standard http. Prevent clicking on free-offer banners on websites, and close Internet browser when you are not using it.
Maintenance
3. Clean screen only with products particularly marked to clean your type of screen. Wash down PC at least once a month to take out a probable dust buildup, and utilize cans of compressed air once a month to blow dust and garbage out of different vents on PC. Do hard-drive maintenance at least once a month, containing defragmenting and disc-scanning functions. Do a removable media backup of personal data and main files at least once a week.
