Regions with many users on same Internet service provider can cause DSL connection to slow down. Attempting to do high bandwidth activities during peak hours will slow down DSL connection. Inappropriate modem or router settings can cause DSL connection to slow down. As most of these are out of control, there is a minor twist you can do to decrease speed of Internet connection.

Step 1

Go to "Start" button.

Step 2

Press "Run." Enter "gpedit.msc". Choose "OK."

Step 3

Find "Administrative Templates." Choose "Network" and tick "Qos Packet Schedule."

Step 4

Click "Limit Reservable Bandwidth" knob. Put a check next to "Enabled" box.

Step 5

Click "Properties." The numeric number applied to "Bandwidth" must be "20." Rise this to 35. Click "OK." Reboot DSL modem.
