When laptop's integral monitor suffers a hardware crash, you do not want to shell out money for a fully new PC. With appropriate replacement parts, you can swap out laptop's monitor on own at home. To obtain monitor working again, you want to swap out both inverter board and actual LCD screen itself. As view of tearing apart laptop can look scary initially, repair only needs basic PC knowledge and a good deal of persistence.
Instructions
1. Step 1
Power off laptop PC and shut the LCD monitor cover. Detach power cable and unplug any expansion cards attached to laptop. Turn whole laptop upside down so that battery is visible. Find battery release button and slide it over. Pull battery out of laptop and then turn the unit back over.
2. Step 2
Open LCD monitor's cover. Find rubber or plastic plugs placed along edges of the laptop monitor. Press edge of flathead screwdriver under first plug and pop it off monitor. Repeat the procedure with every plug.
3. Step 3
Take out screws hidden under plugs with screwdriver. Take top of plastic screen adjacent LCD screen. Pull bezel off the screen and set it to the side.
4. Step 4
Raise whole LCD screen ahead and softly set it on laptop's keyboard. Pull off tape strip that holds monitor cable to back of LCD screen. Detach cable and discard old LCD screen.
5. Step 5
Locate green inverter panel at monitor case. Take out two screws holding panel in position. Detach short black cables on either side of board. Pull board off laptop. Set new inverter board in its place and again attach screws and cables.
6. Step 6
Place new LCD screen on monitor and reconnect its cable. Press plastic screen back into place and again connect screws. Push plugs back into screw holes.
7. Step 7
Put battery reverse into laptop. Power on PC.
