Dell Inspiron 3800 notebook comes with 32-64 MB of RAM installed unless upgrades were selected when it was bought. Though, Inspiron 3800 supports up to 512 MB of RAM, which can make PC quicker. Upgrade memory in Inspiron 3800 to give performance boost with minimum effort.

Instructions

1. Step 1

Switch off Inspiron 3800. Detach it from power adapter, and take out battery. If backup battery mounted, take out it. Shut the cover. Turn the notebook over so that bottom is facing up.\

2. Step 2

Touch a beached metal object to free developed static electricity before handling any parts in notebook.

3. Step 3

Locate door covering memory module slots on Inspiron 3800. Door covers two upgrade slots, so it will be larger than two memory modules. Utilize screwdriver to open door by sliding it below depression on one side. This will disclose the two now installed memory modules.

4. Step 4

Utilize your fingernails to grab the keeping tabs on every side of memory module, and push them out. Module will pop out of place, and can be pulled out of upgrade slot simply. Perform again this step for other module.

5. Step 5

Note the notch on bottom of new memory modules. Match this notch with tab on one of upgrade slots. The tab shows right direction; memory module can only be putted in one direction. Also, if memory module is intended such that one side has two memory chips stacked on top of one another, this side must face out for door to close totally.

6. Step 6

Put in initial latest memory module into an upgrade hole using direction decided in earlier step. Put in module at an angle so that metal pins at module touch metal contacts in upgrade slot and top of module is above retaining tabs. Push the top of module down, and the tabs will snap over module, holding it in place. Perform again this step with other new memory module.

7. Step 7

Shut the door covering memory upgrade slots. Change Inspiron 3800's battery, and connect it back into power adapter. Turn on PC. New memory modules will be detected by notebook automatically.
