If you want to burn one file to two CDs, and are running XP, Vista or Windows 7, PC can do so with no change and without installing added software. Utilize the integral Windows disc burning utility to burn many copies of backup discs, lending an additional measure of security in case one backup disc must become unreadable.
Instructions
Windows XP
1. Step 1
Put in a disc into optical drive.
2. Step 2
Double click "My Computer". Go to file that you want to burn. Click on "Copy This File". Choose optical drive as target.
3. Step 3
Open the optical drive. Your file will appear in a sector of "Files Ready to Be Written." Click "Write to CD," and disc will be burned. Remove that disc.
4. Step 4
Put in a second disc into optical drive and tick "Yes, Write These Files to Another CD" to finish burning file to two CDs.
Windows Vista and 7
5. Step 1
Put in a disc in optical drive. A dialog box will show what you like to do with disc. Tick "Burn Files to Data Disc." Windows will want to format disc to get ready it for burning. Wait for procedure to finish, and a new window will open representing blank CD.
6. Step 2
Drag file to be copied into new window. It will be written to disc straight away.
7. Step 3
Remove disc from PC, and put in a new one. Repeat earlier two steps to burn file on the second CD.
