IDE cables are utilized to attach DVD, CD and hard drives to motherboards. IDE connections are slowly being changed by SATA and SATA-II connections, but they are generally utilized. To securely remove IDE cable from drive, follow some easy steps.
Instructions
Step 1
Put thumb and other finger beyond doubt on every side of IDE connector. IDE connector is part at the end of wire going into drive.
Step 2
Grab drive in a secure spot with other hand so it can't move when you begin pulling. Ensure you only touch drive's metal case. If you are working in PC case, ensure you are grounded and hand does not bump any circuit boards or parts.
Step 3
Pull IDE cable directly out by exerting force evenly on every side. Do not wriggle it. This take a little effort as it is created to be a tight fit. If needed, follow these similar steps for other end of cable, ensuring after more not to touch any boards in PC.
